1Peel and cut russet potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes into 1-inch chunks.russet potatoes: 3 lbs

2Place potato chunks into a large pot and cover with cold water by at least 1 inch. Add salt .salt: 1 tbsp

3Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low and simmer until potatoes are fork-tender, about ⏱️ 15 to 20%minutes .

4While potatoes cook, melt unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about ⏱️ 2 minutes . Stir in heavy cream or whole milk and warm through (do not boil).unsalted butter: 1/2 c, garlic: 4 cloves, heavy cream: 3/4 c

5Drain potatoes thoroughly in a colander and return them to the warm pot.
